Poprad-Tatry International Airport (TAT) is located in Slovakia and is considered one of the highest elevations in Central Europe. It is located at an altitude of 718 meters above sea level and annually serves up to 100 thousand passengers, flying to London, Burgas, Riga, Kiev, Podgorica, Antalya, Tel Aviv.
A field military airport at this location appeared in 1938, passenger service began in 1943 as purely domestic flights. In 1970, the World Ski Championship was held at the Poprad-Tatry resort, and for this event a new concrete runway and a new airport building were built. Another terminal was opened in 2008, taking into account all modern requirements. In the same year, the airport welcomed the British Queen Elizabeth II with her husband Philip. In 2014, a new departure hall was put into operation.
Now the Poprad-Tatry airport has 3 runways, two unpaved runways for light aircrafts and one concrete, which is designed for medium-haul Airbus A320 and Boeing 737. Inside the airport there are cafes and restaurants, duty-free shops, VIP lounges, free Wifi is available at the entire airport territory.
